Article: Helping us to help ourselves

Not a shore-related article, I know, but wrote a piece for Sunday's Philadelphia Inquirer about the self help book industry. It's not my first time writing for Image, but it is the first time I've been assigned a piece for image (the other time was a book review that was moved over from A&E). You can read that here. Enjoy the piece, whether you like self help or not. Like any good journalist, I fall somewhere in between.

And if you really like books, you can check out my other blog project, "Book a Week with Jen."

Hi Jen,

Enjoyed reading your post and article, too. Congrats on your soon-to-be-published book!

If you ever feel like reading another self-help book, one I love and highly recommend is by Marci Shimoff and is titled "Happy for No Reason: 7 Steps to Being Happy from the Inside Out." She takes a practical approach to increasing our happiness in these areas: personal power, mind, heart, body, soul, purpose, and relationships.

All the best,
Linda

Great article! I've read Steve Salerno's book and blog (a friend recommended them b/c I used to work with one of the authors he discusses) and he makes some good points. I guess the bottom line is that self-help books help some, but I'm not sure they make us 10 gazillion dollars worth of better!
