Good stuff happening on the first Wednesday of the month in AC, now through September.
To start, there's free jazz concerts at the Atlantic City Free Public Library, starting at 6pm. This month's concert features Atlantic City resident, Brenda Bass, along with her five-piece band. Bass is a classical and jazz trumpeter, who has played with the likes of Bette Midler, Robert Palmer, Debbie Boone at Carnegie Hall, Chuck Mangione, Steve Gatlin of the Gatlin Brothers, and The Temptations.
At The Pier Shops at Caesars, mention First Wednesday at Sonsie and get half price appetizers along with half price select white and red wines by the glass, half price 'mixologist' cocktails and half price beer at the bar all night. But make sure you mention First Wednesday or no discount.
Even parking's cheaper on First Wednesday. You can park in the South Jersey Transportation Authority lots on Fairmont Avenue and Atlantic Avenue for a small fee and get on the free First Wednesday AC shuttle to the various participating locations. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes until 10 p.m.
And if you want to stay over Ocean City (really? Ocean City as part of an AC event?) has two money saving options: Ocean Front Motel (20 percent off) and Coral Sands (20 percent off), but only if you're staying over tonight.
For more information, go to www.firstwednesdayac.com.
P.S. Trish Ryan, who was our "Down the Shore with..." guest on Monday, is talking tonight about her book at the Vineyard Community Church at 4523 Springfield Avenue in Philadelphia. I'm hoping to make it, but Verizon gave me a 12 hour window in which they might come to fix my office line. Hopefully they'll get here in the first half of that window...
