Memorial Day means a lot of things. In Sea Isle City, it now means the annual "Tri for Our Vets" competition, which takes place this year on May 23.
Good news! It's sold out! So over 500 athletes will be swimming, running and biking through Sea Isle that Saturday. The US Coast Guard will have a boat in the water and a helicopter overhead, and there might even be a flyover (details still in the works).
But this isn't just about athletics. Last year, the tri raised over $35,000 for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and the new Sea Isle Veterans’ Memorial. Can they break $40,000 this year? We'll see!
I won't be participating, but I will be cheering on. I'll also be running the Broad Street Run in Philadelphia on Sunday (and not in 90 degree temperatures!) Anyone else? I know a bus group comes up from Ocean City every year...
